Spinal Decompression Therapy 1

What is Spinal Decompression Therapy?

It is a non-surgical traction type therapy for back, leg, neck and arm pain.  Spinal decompression is FDA approved and clinically has an 86% success rate for pain associated with bulging or herniated discs, even after failed back surgery.  During the treatment, gentle distraction and relaxation phases are cycled through.  A specific spinal disc is isolated and when placed under a negative pressure, a vacuum effect occurs.  This effect causes a protruding or herniated disc to be pulled back within the disc by the vacuum created within the disc.  Also, this vacuum stimulates growth of a blood supply which results in pain reduction and improved healing at the site of injury.

Spinal Decompression Therapy 2The Decompression unit we have at our office controls the variations in the traction allowing for spinal decompression and eliminates muscle reaction and compression seen with typical traction devices.  Since patterns are preprogrammed for ramping up and down, the axial distraction amount allows for higher levels of spinal decompression and disc rehydration.

It is not recommended for: pregnant women, severe osteoporosis, severe obesity, severe nerve damage and spinal surgery with instrumentation.  However, it can be used after bone fusion or non-fusion surgery.

Treatment plans are specific to each individual’s needs after a thorough evaluation has been performed.  Based on the current research, the best results have been achieved after about 20 sessions over a 6-10 week timeframe.  Each session takes about 30-40 minutes.  To speed healing, spinal stabilization exercises along with massage and core strengthening may be recommended.

Those who have back, neck, leg or arm pain caused by damage to a disc which may include a: herniated, protruding or bulging disc, spinal stenosis, sciatica or radicular pain and degenerative joint disease.

I'm no longer on opioids

Dr. Iris Rosenfeld saved my life. I'm no longer on opioids and I can't remember when I felt this good. This petite lady can help even without manipulation. She has an arsenal of treatments; massage, cold laser not to mention my favorite, spinal decompression with her traction table! No kidding ! On Thursday I injured my back even worse then it was. Then again that Saturday. We had a vacation planned for the next Sunday. My husband was going to cancel our vacation, but I knew Dr. Iris could and would heal me. With two sessions on the traction table she did the impossible! I wasn't even stiff after sitting in the car for hours. She is unbelievable!! I just love this lady!! Five stars is not enough!!

I highly recommend Dr. Iris and her courteous staff

I would give Dr. Iris 10 stars if I could. After nearly a full year of excruciating neck pain (and trying every type of treatment available from physical therapy, acupuncture, cortisone shots, etc.) I experienced measurable results from Dr Iris's treatments. She used decompression and laser in treating my pain and I am now a welcomed 80% better. I highly recommend Dr. Iris and her courteous staff.

Now am able to walk a half mile with NO pain!

About 3 months ago, started having worsening pain in my thighs and calfs when walking. It had gotten so bad that when walking more than a few houses, had to stop because of the severe pain. Had an MRI and was diagnosed with spinal stenosis. Wanted to avoid surgery, so have been getting spinal decompression treatments from Dr. Iris, twice a week for the last 5 weeks. Now am able to walk a half mile with NO pain!
